Obama’s Middle East Imperialism

May 12th, 2009 4 comments

The velvet gloves are off and the reality of Obama’s Middle East plans are being revealed: a bare-fisted pummeling of Afghanistan and Pakistan — with Iraq’s fate yet to be determined.

The media have been preparing this for months, with incessant talk about the alleged “troop drawdown” in Iraq, the “surge” in Afghanistan and the “immediate threat” that supposedly is represented by Pakistan.

It’s now crystal clear that zero “change” will be forthcoming when it comes to U.S. foreign policy, minus a strategic shifting of troops.  This fact was highlighted recently when Obama asked for an additional $83.4 billion in “emergency spending” to fight the Iraq/Afghan/Pakistan wars. It must be noted that so-called “emergency funds” were precisely the avenue Bush chose to fight his wars, enabling him to skirt the already-gigantic military budget. Read more…

Hamas Leader Reiterates Goal of Palestinian State Neighboring Israel

The Palestinian group Hamas has announced a cessation in rocket fire into Israel this week as Khaled Meshal, the political leader of Hamas, in exile in Syria, repeated that Hamas is seeking an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel along the pre-1967 border.

In June 1967, Israel invaded and occupied the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where Palestinians now seek to establish their own state. The illegal Israeli occupation continues to hamper their aspirations for democracy and statehood, however.

Israel withdrew forces from Gaza in 2005 and dismantled settlements there, only to place the densely populated territory under siege. On December 27 last year, Israel launched a major military operation against Gaza, dubbed “Operation Cast Lead”, which resulted in the deaths of more than 1,300 Palestinians, nearly a third of whom were children.

Israel’s operation has drawn heavy criticism from human rights groups, including for indiscriminate attacks against a civilian population, the use of white phosphorus as a weapon, and targeting protected sites such as schools and hospitals.

In June of last year, Israel and Hamas agreed to a cease-fire, but Israel never honored the truce. During the first week of the truce, Israeli forces fired upon civilians in Gaza. Israel also never lifted the siege, another condition of the cease-fire. On November 4, Israel launched an air attack and ground incursion into Gaza, effectively ending the cease-fire as violence escalated in the weeks that followed. Read more…

What if American forces attack us?

February 24th, 2009 2 comments

Following is an old article that i read on a website a while back. Figured it was worth the read so gonna give it a post.

Had somebody told Iraqis even in late 80’s that America would attack them, they would have ridiculed him at great lengths. Had somebody even merely mentioned to Afghans in 90’s that after Russia, US will attack their country, they would have considered him crazy. If somebody tells us Pakistanis today that America will attack us in future, what will we do?

I presume that most Pakistanis will not laugh, instead they will nod their heads gravely. So what will happen if America attacks Pakistan? What would everyone do? Here is my opinion, Read more…

Israel launches covert war to disrupt Iran’s nuke program

Israel launches covert war to disrupt Iran TEL AVIV: Israel has launched a covert war in an effort to disrupt Iran’s nuclear program, a British daily ph quoted US intelligence sources as saying.

According to the article published on Tuesday, sabotage, front companies and double agents, as well as the assassination of top figures involved in Iran’s atomic operations, were being used to interrupt the program.

“Disruption is designed to slow progress on the program, done in such a way that they don’t realize what’s happening. You are never going to stop it,” a former CIA officer on Iran told the newspaper.

Shoe hurled at Israeli ambassador

February 6th, 2009 No comments

The ambassador was giving a lecture about the Israeli elections when he was struck [Ylva Kronheffer]

A woman has thrown a shoe at the Israeli ambassador to Sweden as he was giving a lecture on Israel’s forthcoming elections.

The shoe hit Benny Dagan in the chest during a seminar held at the University of Stockholm on Wednesday, a local police official said.

Ylva Kronheffer, a board member of the Stockholm Association of Foreign Affairs, the student association which organised the seminar, said she was “sitting in the front row and suddenly a shoe was flying over my head”.

She added that another person threw two books at the envoy but missed.

“The girl who threw the shoe asked the policemen to give it back to her. It was a red Nike shoe,” Kronheffer said.

The two protesters, who were shouting insults, were escorted out of the room by police.

They were taken to a local police station but were released after being questioned.

It was not known whether they were students at the university.

Dagan continued his lecture after a short break and a heated discussion followed the seminar before being interrupted by the moderator.

A protester who threw a shoe at Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier, during a speech at Britain’s Cambridge University earlier this week, was charged with a public order offence.

An Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at George Bush, the former US president, during a press conference in Baghdad in December, was arrested and is awaiting his trial.

Israel hopes to colonize parts of Iraq as “Greater Israel”

February 3rd, 2009 No comments

Israeli expansionists, their intentions to take full control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and permanently keep the Golan Heights of Syria and expand into southern Lebanon already well known, also have their eyes on parts of Iraq considered part of a biblical “Greater Israel”.

rendition
Iraqi nationalists charge that the Israeli expansion into Iraq is supported by both major Kurdish factions, including the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Iraq’s nominal President Jalal Talabani.

Israel reportedly has plans to relocate thousands of Kurdish Jews from Israel, including expatriates from Kurdish Iran, to the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Nineveh under the guise of religious pilgrimages to ancient Jewish religious shrines. According to Kurdish sources, the Israelis are secretly working with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to carry out the integration of Kurdish and other Jews into areas of Iraq under control of the KRG.

Kurdish, Iraqi Sunni Muslims, and Turkmen have noted that Kurdish Israelis began to buy land in Iraqi Kurdistan, after the U.S. invasion in 2003, that is considered historical Jewish “property”.
